Why I still ride along on Fridays.

My wife Carla and I started this company in our garage in Denver in 2011. We had one truck and two containers, and I drove every single delivery myself for the first two years. We now have 1,247 containers and 87 employees across nine regional hubs, but I still climb into the cab every Friday morning.

Here's why: the national carriers got big by squeezing the customer. Add a fuel surcharge. Add a mileage surcharge. Add a "convenience fee" for using a credit card. Miss the delivery window and blame traffic. Leave the container in a rainstorm because the seal is twenty years old.

Will a loaded container damage my driveway or yard?

Our containers weigh about 4,800 lbs empty and up to 25,000 lbs loaded. On a standard residential concrete or asphalt driveway, that's well within tolerance — we deliver thousands a year with no surface claims. For pavers, soft gravel, or new (under-90-day) concrete, we'll lay plywood runners at no charge. Tell us your surface when you book.

What happens if it rains or snows while my stuff is in there?

Nothing. Our containers use a continuous welded steel seam with a rubber compression seal around the roll-up door. Intertek audited 100% of our active fleet in 2023 and confirmed a full weather-tight seal. Your stuff stays dry through a Midwest thunderstorm or a Northeast nor'easter.

How long can I keep the container?

As long as you need. Flat rate of $129 a month either way — there's no minimum rental or early-return fee. The average homeowner keeps the unit 47 days. The longest active rental on record is 3.2 years (a Denver art collector who calls it "the world's most boring gallery"). If you need to extend, just call.

What am I not allowed to put inside?

No hazardous materials — gas cans, paint thinners, propane, fireworks, ammunition, automotive fluids, or living things (people, animals, plants). Everything else is fair game, including furniture, appliances, clothing, books, tools, and boxes of sentimental stuff. For full restricted-items list, see our rental agreement at booking.

Do I need a permit to put one on my property?

In most cities, no — the container sits on your own driveway or yard and is treated like a temporary structure (similar to a dumpster during a renovation). A handful of HOAs and historic districts require a short notification; check your HOA bylaws if you have them, and tell us at booking if a permit might be needed and we'll send the paperwork.

Can I lock it? Is my stuff insured?

Yes to both. You bring your own padlock — we recommend a disc lock or heavy padlock, which you install on the roll-up door's hasp the moment we leave. Every shipment also carries $5,000 of zero-damage coverage from us at no extra cost, and the container itself is insured up to $2M per incident through Lloyds of London.
